@Tommy
I know there's a quote button, I just didn't think it was needed in my case. ;)
I probably mean imply, yeah. English is not my first language - now go and try german. haha

As for Brink and Bulletstorm.. both games could have gotten further, if the potential would have been used. They were good games with great concepts and different approaches of their ideas.

As for UT's godlike bots.. they were piss easy on UT3. They were twice as hard on the earlier UT2kx games - really difficult to beat, if at all.

Funny thing, you could be so good and destroy Godlike bots, but then hop online and be horrible

Even funnier, destroying bots on godlike and beating people's arses online. ;)

The only multiplayer shooter I play today is Killing Floor, and that's quite old.

Call of Duty and Battlefield (and most modern shooters) have ruined the variety and skill (and sometimes fun) of first person shooters. Call of Duty the most.
Also, the quality of some games when they are released are atrocious *cough*EA/Battlefield*cough*. They get rushed to be released, and half the time developers don't experiment or make new features and such due to the fact that they want money, and if they don't stick to the stuff that modern shooter players like, they're scared they won't make much money off of it. If it isn't killstreaks and overpowered weapons and perks, then half the time people won't play it, and shrug it off because it isn't like Call of Duty or Battlefield.
Summary: Modern shooters ruined the FPS genre.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

And I'm sure when more indie developers come in, FPS games will get better as they are not afraid to do something different. Just look at SUPERHOT.

Aren't most indie devs scared/don't care to do something different? I mean a ton of those indie games on steam are just crappy little pixel games with bad graphics justified under the guise of being "retro", and gameplay that falter in comparison to certain flash games from years ago.

Not saying indie devs are bad, but there's just a ton out there that try to make a quick buck off of a poor game. I can't even bother to try to tell what's good on steam because it's like mining for gold.
